One of the exciting things we did this year is bring AWIE to Australia. We have a large Aussie contingent in our AWIE Slack community, and a huge number of 2022 Amazing Women in eCommerce nominees hail from down under. On December 9, Yotpo held the first in-person AWIE event in Sydney, and it was fantastic!

The event featured an AWIE afternoon tea and a live podcast hosted by Jess Ruhfus, Founder at Collabosaurus, a marketing tool that connects brands. The featured guests were Alyce Tran, Co-founder, The Daily Edited and now Founder at dinnerware brand In the Roundhouse and Paige Griffith-Carmichael, Marketing Manager at global retailer Marks & Spencer.

The Carousel and Women Love Tech were Yotpo’s media partners for the event, and some of the attendees were interviewed — we will be sharing links when they’re available!

The vibe

There was a ton of energy and excitement in the room during the event. With the women’s constant cheers and support for one another, the vibe was electric. And there was never a dull moment, as photos were snapped, introductions were made, and inspiration was shared. The table was set beautifully with delicious platters and In the Roundhouse was kind enough to donate some of their beautiful dining and serving plates to add to the table decor.

Event sponsor Hello Television produced this video, which perfectly captures the vibe of the event:

The attendees

Guests at the event came from every corner of the eCommerce industry. Amazing women from brands like The Body Shop, Freedom, Flora & Fauna, Adobe, St. Frock, Shopify and The Beauty Chef were in attendance, along with many others.

The gift bags

The gift bag was incredible! We were blown away by how many brands participated in the giveaway — in fact, we couldn’t even fit everything inside our AWIE-branded bags (good thing we had some Yotpo-branded backups)! The bags featured hundreds of dollars worth of products by these brands:

By all measures, our first AWIE Australia event was a smashing success! We got to meet some seriously amazing women, enjoy delicious food and drink, and hear some inspirational speakers. We can’t wait for the next one!
